Green House & IOT
One of the decisive points to buy this house, besides the very young age, was the installed heat supply. Solar collectors and an air-source heat pump were available and after checking all the documents, the electricity consumption for heat generation was also at a low level. This speaks for a good insulation and efficiency of the solar collectors and the air heat pump.
In 2021, we found out what a photovoltaic system would cost. The offers were already very expensive, which made me a little suspicious. Without further ado, I decided to take the issue into my own hands. In the wholesale I had now all prices, a surcharge of 100% on the material made the offers of the specialized companies quite expensive. I then put together two photovoltaic systems, for a neighbor at the same time.
The material was already hard to get in 08/2021 due to the semiconductor crisis. However, I managed to get all the material. A company that specializes in the installation of PV systems on the roof installed the modules. The wiring and connections of the inverter, home automation, battery and the wallbox I took over myself.
The formalities were completed in a few days. The plant could be connected to the grid in 09/2021, with feed-in tariffs and government subsidies.
22 modules with 395 W peak power each, Fronius inverter,
Fronius Wallbox
and a 10 kW battery.
So what's the point of all this really?
The answer is quite simple, we no longer pay for
electricity.
We produce so much electricity that the surplus feed-in is so
high that the purchase of the green electricity completely
covers the winter demand.
Photovoltaic + solar panels + air source heat pump + green electricity makes us independent, saves the wallet and we have a positive CO2 balance.
The IOT share in the entire house is now very high.
Many sensors and the networking of ventilation, roller
shutters, heating, lamps, PV systems, etc. bring clear
advantages. The ventilation system is controlled according to
demand. The roller shutters are not only fixed at certain
times, but also depend on the brightness, temperature and
position of the sun. Thus, with the large windows facing south,
we achieve pleasant temperatures in the house even in summer.
Since LED light has been installed throughout the house, this
can also be intelligently controlled. Scenes for a cozy dinner
or soft lighting via the indirect ceiling lighting, etc. The
garden is also networked. For example, the garden is mowed
automatically. This does not happen for convenience but saves
having to dispose of the lawn clippings and thus losing the
nutrients applied with the fertilizer. A dense healthy lawn
saves water! The water comes from the own well, also the garden
irrigation is intelligently controlled.
The heating and hot water generation has also been made intelligent and thus saves significantly once again.
As expected, I have chosen my own IOT solution. This is stable, independent of Internet access and not vendor-specific.
